You no longer need to pay for a landline to get broadband. OCCTA broadband uses single-order fibre (SOGEA) or full fibre (FTTP), neither of which needs a traditional phone line or line rental.

The UK's old copper telephone network (the PSTN) is being retired, with the switch-off due by 31 January 2027. Broadband no longer has to be bundled with a phone line, and home phones move to digital services that run over the internet instead.
With OCCTA you get broadband on its own. There's no line rental charge on your bill, and nothing to pay for a phone you don't use.
Single-order fibre still uses the copper wire into your home, but only to carry broadband, so the router plugs into the same master socket. Full fibre uses an ONT box where the fibre enters the property. Either way, no phone service or line rental is needed.
If anyone in the home uses a personal alarm, telecare device or a security alarm that dials out over the phone line, tell us before you order. These devices need to be checked for compatibility with digital services. Our telecare guide explains what to ask.
Every OCCTA broadband band is available as Price Lock 24 (a 24-month minimum term with no scheduled inflation-linked or percentage rise on the recurring subscription) or Flex 30 (30-day rolling, normally 30 days' notice) where eligible.
Availability, technology and the speed estimate depend on the exact address. The checker shows what your line can take, and the Contract Summary confirms the price, term, speed information and any one-off charges before you accept.
