    Engineer Appointments: How to Prepare

Most switches happen without anyone visiting. Where an engineer is needed, a little preparation makes it quick and avoids a wasted trip.

    When an engineer is needed

Typically for a new full-fibre (FTTP) install, a brand-new line, or a fault that can't be fixed remotely. We'll always tell you before booking and confirm the date and time slot.

    On the day

An adult aged 18 or over must be at home for the whole slot and give safe access to where the line enters the property and where you'd like the router.

    • Clear access to the master socket or the outside wall where fibre enters.
    • Know where you'd like the ONT/router — near a power socket.
    • Keep pets secured and parking available if you can.
    • Engineers carry ID — always ask to see it.

    Need to rearrange?

Tell us as early as possible — ideally at least two working days before. Email hello@occta.co.uk or raise a ticket. Late changes may not be possible on the network's side.

    Missed appointments and extra work

If the network charges for a missed appointment, no access, or extra work caused on the customer's side, we pass on only the actual network charge, and only where it was disclosed and is fair. We'll tell you about any known charge before you agree to the appointment.
