Lag, Ping and Gaming Performance
For gaming and video calls, responsiveness (ping) matters more than raw download speed. Most lag comes from the home network.
Quick wins
Try these first:
- Use an Ethernet cable for the console or PC.
- Pause downloads, cloud backups and 4K streams while playing.
- Pick a game server close to the UK.
- Restart the router if it's been on for weeks.
Measuring the problem
Note your ping, jitter and packet loss from the game's network stats or a speed test site, along with the time it happens. Consistent packet loss over Ethernet is worth reporting to us.
What we can investigate
We don't offer a separate latency guarantee unless your order says so, but we will investigate material quality faults — such as sustained packet loss — with the network.
