Why your first bill may be higher
In short
Your first invoice can look bigger than your monthly price. Here's exactly why, with a worked example.
Your first invoice is often slightly higher than your normal monthly price. That's expected and always transparent.
What can appear on invoice #1
- Activation / setup fee if applicable to your product (e.g. a fibre install fee). This will have been shown on your Contract Summary before you accepted.
- Pro-rata charge — the days between your live date and your chosen billing day.
- First month in advance — because OCCTA bills in advance from your chosen billing day.
Worked example
- You are on the SUPERFAST plan at £26.99/month.
- Your service went live on the 5th.
- Your chosen billing day is the 20th.
- Pro-rata: 15 days × (26.99 / 30) ≈ £13.50.
- First full month: £26.99 (charged in advance from the 20th).
- Total first invoice: £40.49.
- From then on, every invoice is £26.99 on the 20th.
What is NOT on your first invoice
- Any charge for the days before your service went live. Billing starts on live date, not order date.
- Hidden fees. Everything on the invoice was on your Contract Summary.
If the total is different from what you expected, reply to the email or open the chat bubble and we'll walk through it line by line.
